Warner Bros Discovery has announced price hike for its ad-free streaming plans.

The ad-free version in US will rise from $15.99 to $16.99 per month, or the annual plan will be $169.99 instead of $169.99. The ultimate ad-free tier will be $20.99 Increasing $1 per month. yearly cost will be $209.99 increasing by $10. While ad-supported version’s price remains unchanged ($9.99/month or 99.9/year.

Max offers three tiers:

With Ads: Streaming on two devices at once with Full HD resolution.

Ad-Free: Enjoy Streaming on two devices simultaneously, Full HD resolution, and 30 offline downloads.

Ultimate Ad-Free: Streaming on four devices simultaneously, 4K Ultra HD resolution, Dolby Atmos audio, and 100 offline downloads (limits apply).

The price hike aims to attract more price-sensitive customers to ad-supported version and accelerate streamer’s profitability.
New prices are effective for new subscribers from today, existing customers will receive 30-day notice before billing. while yearly subscription will not be increased until renewal.

Discovery’s streaming revenue in the first quarter of 2024 remained constant at $2.46 billion. But their profits rose to $86 million from $50 million the previous year (before expenses such as interest, taxes, and depreciation). Price hike is just like trend nowadays, as Spotify has also raised its prices twice in the past 12 months, NBCUniversal’s Peacock will see a price increase in July, and other streaming services like Disney+ and Netflix have recently done the same.
